FAQs 6

Why does Germany need a solar-plus-storage subsidy?

That compares to the effective 100% requirement that solar-plus-storage projects used to need in order to qualify for an investment tax credit (ITC) in the US, and still do for Germany’s Innovation Tender. The subsidy is needed because BESS co-located with PV are ‘not profitable’, the government said.

What is the SDE+ subsidy scheme?

The Netherlands’ solar development is underpinned by the SDE++ subsidy scheme, which builds upon the former SDE+ mechanism. The program supports both renewable energy generation and CO₂-reducing technologies. To date, it has allocated funding for 11 GW of solar capacity, primarily for commercial rooftop and ground-mounted systems.

Who is eligible for the ISDE subsidy scheme?

If your product (heat pump, solar boiler, lowemission or low-E glass, or insulation material) is listed, you customers know they may be eligible for the ISDE. How to apply? You can apply for the ISDE subsidy scheme (in Dutch) to the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO).

What is the €100 million Bess scheme?

The €100 million (US$106 million) allocation is part of a €416 million package for PV co-located battery energy storage system (BESS) technology that was initially to total €41.6 million a year, starting in 2025, for ten years. The 2025 programme is set to open on 1 January 2025, and more details will be released to the House later this year.

How much does a kWh subsidy cost?

The initial estimate for the subsidy is €0.14-29 per kWh of energy discharged. Independent research and consultancy organisation CE Delft has been heavily involved in the analysis of the scheme until now.

Is the net metering scheme still sustainable?

Wijnand van Hooff, general manager of Holland Solar, said that the current net-metering scheme is no longer sustainable. “PV system owners are increasingly confronted with grid fees that energy suppliers charge to cover the rising costs of the net metering scheme,” he said.
